About usMarillac Manor was founded by the Benedictine Sisters of Richardton in 1977 in response to the needs for senior housing in the Bismarck area. It was built on the same campus as St. Vincent’s Care Center, which the Sisters founded in 1941. Marillac Manor I has 28 studio/efficiency apartments and 13 single-bedroom apartments. The main floor apartments have a sliding door with a patio and a small garden plot. A community center, which connected Marillac Manor with St. Vincent’s Care Center, was added in 1984. In 1989, Marillac II was constructed with 36 additional apartments. This newer building features a sky-lighted atrium that offers an attractive gathering place for activities for the residents. Every apartment is fully carpeted and equipped with a stove, refrigerator and air conditioning. A large chapel, which is always open, provides a quiet, sacred place for daily Mass, rosary and private prayer. In 2000, the Benedictine Sisters began looking for a healthcare partner to assist them in their ministry at St. Vincent’s and Marillac Manor. They leased management of St. Vincent’s to Medcenter One and sold them the facility in 2005. In 2007, they also leased the management of Marillac Manor to Medcenter One, so both facilities could be under one management family. The Benedictine Sisters continue as the Catholic sponsors of both facilities. The Sisters continue to provide leadership in the area of spiritual care. Independent Living You are welcome and encouraged, when necessary, to bring in outside agencies or individuals to assist you with daily needs, as Marillac Manor staff may not provide you with assistance in activities of daily living. Residents must be able to live independently and/or direct their own cares. Marillac Manor is more than an apartment building. It is a community of people who enjoy companionship, neighborliness and friendship. To foster community, the Sisters designed Marillac Manor to have a homey environment with common areas for relaxation, visiting, card playing and watching videos. Many unique features make it an attractive and comfortable home for our residents. Administrator He is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck. |
