About us

History
In 1941, at the request of Bishop Vincent Ryan of the Catholic Diocese of Bismarck, a courageous group of Benedictine Sisters from Minot (now Richardton) began a home for the aged in the former Bishop’s residence in downtown Bismarck. The ministry grew and flourished. Needing a more modern and adequate facility, a new building was constructed in 1957. This facility has expanded several times and was completely renovated in 1996.

In 2000, the Benedictine Sisters began looking for a healthcare partner to assist them in this ministry. They decided to lease the management of St. Vincent’s to Medcenter One and sold the healthcare organization the facility in 2005. Under a sponsorship agreement, the Benedictine Sisters continue as the Catholic sponsors and provide leadership in the area of spiritual care. The logo of our facility signifies the partnership and cooperation between Medcenter One and the Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery.

Medcenter One St. Vincent’s continues in the Catholic healthcare tradition.

Features
Emmanuel Place, a 41-bed unit, handles a majority of residents with the most acute medical needs. The unit has 33 private and four semi-private rooms. The north wing of this unit has piped-in oxygen and suctioning equipment.

Sacred Heart Place, centrally located, is a 40-bed unit featuring 32 private rooms and four semi-private rooms.

Benedict Place is our special care unit located on the west end of St. Vincent’s Care Center. The unit is specifically designed to meet the needs of residents with a dementia or Alzheimer’s diagnosis. This unit has 10 oversized semi-private rooms and its own dining and activity areas.

Marillac Manor, a 77-apartment congregate living center, is connected to the east end of Medcenter One
St. Vincent’s.

Administrator
Kirk Greff is the licensed administrator of St. Vincent’s Care Center and Marillac Manor. A native of New Rockford, he received both his bachelor’s degrees in business administration/accounting and master’s degree in management from the University of Mary. He has been a licensed nursing home administrator in North Dakota since 1992. Before becoming administrator at Medcenter One St. Vincent’s in 2007, he had worked as an auditor with the N.D. Department of Human Services, administrator of the Napoleon Care Center in Napoleon and held various administrative positions at HIT Inc. in Mandan.

He is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck.
